Welcome to the Boxcar project dossier. This is where I document the complete journey of building Boxcar - from initial concept through implementation challenges to final release.

Follow along as I share technical decisions, architectural patterns, and practical insights gained while developing this pragmatic container orchestrator.

This project is currently in idea phase. Explore the articles below to see the evolution and lessons learned.

Boxcar

A pragmatic container orchestrator focused on simplicity and operational clarity across deployments of any scale. Boxcar provides essential orchestration features—service discovery, load balancing, health checking, and rolling updates—without unnecessary complexity.

The orchestrator uses a declarative configuration format that's easy to understand and version control, avoiding YAML sprawl common in larger systems. Boxcar is designed for both development environments and production deployments where operational transparency matters.

It includes built-in observability with structured logging, metrics collection, and distributed tracing out of the box. Boxcar supports multiple container runtimes and can orchestrate mixed workloads including stateful services.
